The 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Le Bolle offers plenty of immediacy and overall appeal. A burst of sweet dark red cherry, plum, rose petal, lavender, sweet spice and cedar makes a strong opening statement. The 2019 is not super-complex, but it makes up for that with its overall charm. Great Italian Merlot very massetto like in flavor. This wine is ruby red and has black cherry, black current and strawberry soft cotton candy flavors. The wine is now 7 years old smelling sweeter then it tastes, the sweet berry fruit has muted and the tannins have mellowed, giving way to a slight acidic note. The oak is very mild with graphite flavors lending itself to a slight bitter note on the back end. Decanting is a must allowing the full Flavors to open up. This is a big bold merlot and a merlot drinkers wine! — 11 years ago
