GS, tight but meaty and delicious — 6 years ago
The 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Le Bolle offers plenty of immediacy and overall appeal. A burst of sweet dark red cherry, plum, rose petal, lavender, sweet spice and cedar makes a strong opening statement. The 2019 is not super-complex, but it makes up for that with its overall charm. Had this one a few times, good for weeknight dinners, keeps okay a day after opening in the fridge — 6 years ago
Not bad but for riserva I would have expected some clearer fruit characters as opposed to the mixed general red fruit present. — 8 years ago
Lithe and soft. Exceedingly soft with a nice burst of fruit on the midpalate. Moderate spice on the juicy finish. — 8 years ago
Very smooth with lots of earth and some tannins. Dark fruit- black plum, black cherry, maybe some tabacco overtones. Very nice wine. — 5 years ago
Rich nose and rich dry dark fruit upfront. But it remained one dimensional. — 6 years ago
G and I both like. Doesn't usually happen. Dry like a cab. Not heavy. — 8 years ago

The 2020 Ripa delle More is the estate's blend of (50% Sangiovese, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot). Powerful and sleek at the same time, the 2020 packs plenty of intensity into its mid-weight frame. Dark red/purplish fruit, blood orange, mint, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco are some of the many notes that build in the glass. Give this a year or two to soften. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, August 2023)
