Dark, glass-clinging red purple with garnet highlights. BlackBerry, black cranberry, woody leather on the nose and medium full palate. Licorice black bread back palate and on the medium long finish. Medium plus tannins. Medium acidity. S Africa's signature red has come a long way from the days of dirt. The 21 Gables is an excellent example of a higher end food-friendly South African red. Rich, elegant, juicy fruits of; blackberries, dark cherries, black plum, raspberries, hues of purple & blue fruits, strawberries. Used leather, fresh tobacco, finely, crushed rocks, palate gripping volcanic minerals, some dry herbs, moist clay, soft, understated baking spices, amazing, perfect florals that are a mix of; dark, red, blue, violets & lavender. Perfect acidity, it is well knitted/balanced with excellent length and a beautiful, elegant finish that lasts 90-120 seconds.

Loaded with Fruit….. — 2 months ago
Color of different shades of purple. Nose of nice spice, oak, vanilla, black cherry, and more oaky note. Nose is pretty good. Taste follows the nose, almost no tannins, smooth, a lot of cedar and oak note, sweet dark fruits, mellow and easy to drink. Aftertaste shows some zest, ripe grapes, and even more oak note. Flavors are ample. Pretty good. — 3 years ago

Fun wine, extended skin contact - looks like a Rose and tasted like one too: mix between tart red fruit & savory notes, some potpourri, fairly exotic. Palate was bit more austere, open canvas for variety of light fare. We had huge salad w/smoked salmon and it was fantastic. Balanced and dry finish, go find some Georgian wine! — a month ago
