Drank after Postmark, St Supery and a 2009 cake bread Cellars Dancing Bear Ranch (Howell Mountain)cab sav/Franc and drank better than I thought — 3 years ago
Nose has ripe plum, cedar cigar box, lavender, dried blueberries, dried black currant, licorice candy, mashed black cherries with light alcohol heat (assumed from the Zinfandel).
Palate has over-ripe plum, blackberry, milk chocolate, granite dust, violets, cocoa powder, ripe blackberries with still present tannins and a long finish. Spectacular. Drink Magnum's on this 2020-2030, when in proper storage. Based on this evenings performance, I suspect this will be in prime enjoyment 2024+.
1500ml bottle bought from the winery in October 2008; a blend of 58% Zinfandel, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon.
A perfect pairing to amazing seasoned and grilled NY Strip steaks from Kinderhook Farm (Valatie, NY), pulled at 125° and will rested afterwards, barely needed knives this evening! — 4 years ago

Time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday.
Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim.
Fruity nose of black currants, chocolates, cherries, oak, light vanilla, spices, dark coffee and black pepper.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with black plums, cooked cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, spices, tobacco, herbs and black pepper.
Short finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a nice Merlot from Napa Valley. Drinks more generic than that, though. Feels like a California Cabernet.
An entry-level Napa Merlot made by Duckhorn. Has some residual sugar to balance it out. Showing mild complexity with a tangy finish.
Wine Enthusiasts 88 points.
Good right out of the bottle, and better after a couple of hours.
Easy drinking and a good everyday wine.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
