Prothro Family Wines Signature Release Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, Napa Valley, California
It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here is a very tasty Cabernet Sauvignon.
Deep purple/ ruby in color with a wide purplish rim.
Pretty nose of wildflowers, blackberries, blueberries, cedar, coffee, vanilla, tobacco, dark chocolates, pencil lead, light earth, dried fruits, diet coke, dried meats and peppercorn.
Full bodied, smooth and elegant, with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, cooked cherries, black currants, light tobacco, earth, herbs, spices, cedar, licorice, light vanilla and peppercorn.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.
This is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Fruit forward with nice complexity and a great mouthfeel.
Still young, but already enjoyable, even by itself. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.
A good quality wine with the potential to become a 95+ point wine.
Rich, yet elegant. Spicy and entertaining.
Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime. I decanted it for 3 hours.
Easy to drink by itself, and good with food too. Will pair nicely with a nice piece of steak.
A blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon with Petit Verdot, Merlot Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Aged in Oak barrels for 22 months. A tiny production of only 600 bottles.
Really pretty garnet color with cherry red undertones. On the nose, you get blueberries and blackberries, along with roasted coffee beans and a hint of smoke. It’s all so effervescent and youthful. Medium to full bodied with nice structure and balance. While the fruit is lively on the palate, the more savory aspects show what this wine is really all about. You get the chocolate cake, herbs, light cedar and oak, a bit of cherry, and strawberries. Really nice the first night but so much better on the second day. Such a wonderful example of Napa. — 8 years ago
