Grand Napa Vineyards

Estate Grown Stone Crib Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Grand Napa Vineyards Stone Crib Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2021, Rutherford, California

It is time for my
#FridayCabernetfix.

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Strong nose of red and black fruits with light oak, chocolates, light earth, licorice, herbs, spices and wild flowers.

Full-bodied and elegant with medium acidity and long legs

Dry on the palate with black currants, black plums, blackberries, cooked cherries, dark chocolates, dark coffee, spices, light earth and herbs.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This 5 year old Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from Rutherford in Napa Valley is already drinking beautifully, although still young. Powerful yet elegant.

Nicely balanced with a soft mouthfeel. Rich and fruit forward but not extracted. Showing elegance with good structure.

Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years and see how it evolves. Has good potential to become a 94 point wine.

Not your typical Napa Cabernet, as it shows some touches of old world as well. The high alcohol is well integrated already.

Needed 2 hours in the decanter to open up properly, so be patient.

I had the 2018 vintage a few years ago, and it is very consistent.

Fruit forward and good by itself as a sipping wine. Would also pair nicely with a big piece of steak.

A blend of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc. Aged in all new French oak barrels for 24 months.

14.9% alcohol by volume.

@Jody Scharf , I’m sure @"Odedi" will correct me if I’m wrong, but I think he’s giving us “suggested retail” (i.e., “at the winery full price”) prices. So I usually figure if I find it, it will be a little cheaper.

@Tom Casagrande I actually try not to use suggested retail price if possible, but some wines are not available other than directly from the winery

@Jody Scharf I review what I drink so sometimes these are more expensive wines 😉
