2012 was a classic and tight vintage in Virginia… This blend does feature a lead of cab sauv at 38% with CF AT 31% - Merlot singing background at 25% — 7 months ago

Red berry, humid summer forest, hints of old leather jacket and hard candies on the nose. Plum, raspberry, tart cherry, notes of vanilla, soft puckering tannins lingering with juicy cranberry on the finish. Nice red for Virginia. Went well with pizza. — 5 years ago
Wonderfully delicious four variety state blend from the foothills of the Blue Ridge. Exquisite viticulture - careful treatment in the wine room. Vibrant and energetic. Elegant and pure class. Red fruits and structure. — 15 days ago
Clean, beautiful fruit from Wild Meadow (think M.Shaps)… holding up nicely after eight years… Although the acid has weighed enough to make it difficult for cream based pairing options — 3 months ago
First take: it’s a bit muddled and flabby….lacking crisp structure. It is young so I will test on day two. Day 2.5: impressively, air has brought this one to life! Clarity and articulation are now present. The character profile is still medium+ weighted fresh red/black cherry with a delicate green herby frame. What improved - the focus and clarity of the acidity. It broadened, thus mouthfeel improved. — 4 years ago
Man, oh man… This thing aged into something of a viscous, dense California chewy cab!! What a maturation in the bottle. Almost have pencil shavings. The integration really leveled this beyond Virginia. — 8 months ago
Signature smells of bright and fresh raspberry, cherry, and plum, with bramble, notes of bell pepper and mint, hints of baker's vanilla, cinnamon and clove, and faint whiffs of warm tires and fallen wet leaves. On the palate fresh but richer red fruit of cherry, cranberry, and raspberry, hints of asparagus, with a medium mouthfeel and medium-length finish. The 13.8% alcohol gave the body some weight but was a tad strong for the bright red fruit profile. Overall this is a balanced Loire-style Cab Franc. Went great with my portobello caps with homemade porcini-morel gravy; food and wine really brought out the spice flavors of each other. — 4 years ago

What a hidden Jim… The key ingredient here is the estate grown Nebbiolo worked into the pseudo SuperTuscan blend. Phenomenal flavor from the Virginia Piedmont. This was a recipient of a gold and more than deserving of it. — 15 days ago
