Boss Block Yakima Valley Cabernet Franc 2018

It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.

Inky in color with a short purple rim.

Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate and elegant, with nice complexity and mouthfeel.

Showing blackberries, black currants, cooked cherries, cedar, licorice, vanilla, spices, chocolates, light tobacco, peppercorn, light earth, graphite and herbs.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This Cabernet Franc from Yakima Valley is already drinking very nicely. Rich and fruit forward. Nicely balanced with a soft mouthfeel.

This 6 year old is good right out of the bottle, and better after 2 hours of airtime. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.

A good sipping wine, and will pair nicely with BBQ Meats too.

14.1% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

Yakima Valley Cabernet Franc 2009

Beautiful full dark garnet color. Ripe blackberry, Asian spice, and burnished leather notes on the nose. Medium weight, resolved rounded tannins, and nice acid/ fruit balance. Drinking well tonight with quarantine steak and bakers. Over the years I’ve had maybe five different examples of their base Yakima Valley cab franc... all of them performing better than expected. Good things come from Yakima WA. — 5 years ago

Hartford Court

Seascape Vineyard Chardonnay 2013

For once in my life I completely agree with an average 92.4 rating according to CT at this particular moment. This wine was ready to go from the first seconds, but only continued to get better as it sat out. Stone-ground peach and ripe pear grittiness. Walnuts. A touch of sweetness. Excellent salinity and minerality up front and became much more substantial towards the finish. The versatility here seems to be quite profound, as this would go very well all by itself, or would pair with the full spectrum of food. Heck, I would even say this Sheridan a is substantial enough to cut through a ribeye. The only thing I would consider doing different would be to actually decant it! No signs of decline. — 5 years ago

Acidity finish; lots of acid which balances out the blackberry notes. Improves with aeration. Nearly at its peak age. — 4 years ago

L'Orage Red Bordeaux Blend 2003

#AgedWineTuesday

Dark ruby in color with a nice brick rim.

On the nose light blueberries, black currants, cooked cherries, dried fruits, raisins, cedar, light vanilla, earth, vegetables, dark coffee, dark chocolates, leather, tobacco leaf, smoke, cola, pencil lead, black pepper, wet leaves and black tea. Wonderful and complex.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with black currants, raspberries, ripened blueberries, raisins, dried figs, tobacco, earth, spices, wood, vanilla, cloves, coffee, vinaigrette, light vegetables, green olives and herbs.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and cranberries.

This is a wonderful 17 year old Red Blend from Yakima Valley. Showing so much complexity, with nice balance and mouthfeel. Elegant, delicious, mature, and tangy on the finish.

Thank you Paul for sharing.

Needs time to open up properly and show the complexity, and great all by itself.

I had the 2015 vintage a year ago and it was a delicious treat as well, although not as complex.

This is a wine that needs to be had with good friends and talked about. No need to mess it up with food.

A blend of Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon.
