Banfi was founded in 1978 by the Italian-American brothers, John and Harry Mariani. A blend of Sangiovese, Cab Sauv & Syrah. Aromas of fruit herb and spice. On the palate chewy red fruits, leaning towards jammy currant like, tangy spice and lively acidity. Tight tannins took a while to open, medium finish ending with fruit and spice. Good now but a few years in the cellar with reward. — 6 years ago

2020 vintage.
90 % Sangiovese, 5 % Canaiolo Nero, 5 % Colorino….this is old school…and it’s good.
Owened by the Mariani Family since 1897 but has been agricultural since 1582.
Berries and cherries with leather and savoury notes with dried herbs.
Medium bodied with crisp tannins and licorice notes.
This wine is very food friendly.

This juicy blend of Cabernet Sauvignon from California and Cabernet Franc from Virginia shows the legacy of the Mariani in viticulture is a deep rooted one. Lush ripe, juicy black fruit shows a full body, plush structure and juicy acidity exploding with black cherry, hints of cigar box, Sweet tobacco, blackberries and a brush of black pepper on the smooth soft finish. — 6 years ago
I love these ancestrale method wines. So unique and a little unpredictable I guess? Lots of cranberry and red current on the nose... On the palate, that cranberry develops into maybe a richer raspberry, but this doesn't ever really get sweet. I like the dryness here... And the acidity makes the appies on the patio pop. This is always a fun brand and I look forward to each new vintage! — 3 years ago
