Given that I am the only reviewer thus far, I feel the need to provide an update. Enjoying my last bottle now. The nose is of prune, stewed fruits, earth. On the palate, the tannins are now fully integrated, muddled blue and black fruits dominate, with some raisin and prune. A much better showing than my prior review. I feel almost apologetic because this is a very good Gigondas. I wouldn't hold this longer though.

The 2013 IX Estate is a wild, exotic wine. In a sense, it marries the savory aromatic intensity of the Tychson Hill with the fruit richness found in the Cariad. It is another wine that has aged impeccably. There's plenty of mountain tannin and savoriness, along with the underlying structure to age well for many years to come. In a word: magnificent! A completely different wine than the Dominus. This was full throttle and slams you back in to your seat with its G forces. So ripe, almost over the top; but it decelerates just in time and the finish is so succulent it lingers in your mouth forever. Filled to the tip of the cork with graphite and teeth staining purple fruit. This is the malevolent bastard child of a young Colgin IX Syrah and 2000 Chateau Pavie. Gobsmacker. — 7 years ago

Very pure and bright considering the alcohol. Lovely plum and dark cherry. Tangy hints of tar. Rise. Pure and round. — 16 days ago
