100% Tempranillo, about 12 mos in mostly new French oak. Deep Ruby, aromas of dark fruits, spice, floral and earthy oak. On the palate flavors of fresh blackberry & currants with tobacco, licorice and gentle bits of cedar. Tight tannins, supporting the backbone of the wine, could use more bottle age. Well balance with acidity, full body, long finish ends with some fruit, spice, and earthy character. Nice! — 10 days ago

Deeper ruby , slightly narrower garnet , ruby rim . Quite richly fruited with a meaty , smoky character also , red plum , dark cherry , blackberry , touch of spice . On the palate this has quite good density and grippy tannin , balanced acidity , darker ripe fruits. Reasonable length . Quite polished and modern in style . Needs time , come back in 5 years and will last well at least a further 10 . — 2 months ago

Vega Sicilia started purchasing Toro vineyards in 1997 but didn’t release Pintia until ‘01. 100% Tinta de Toro, thick-skinned clone of Tempranillo, beautiful color, complex aromas of fruit & floral spice. Aged, 18 months, French & American oak, 15% stainless due to very dry year. On the palate pronounced fresh dark berry fruit flavors, smoky oak notes, well balanced with acidity. Complex big tannins, full body, long finish ending with elegant fruit & touch of earthy tones. Nice! Needs time! — 22 days ago

Medium ruby with medium garnet , ruby rim . Quite high toned spicy , sweet red fruit, red plum and cherry , vanilla , with a herbal , earthy touch. On the palate this is quite strict and tannic , lots of structure with decent acidity and red plum , darker cherry , spiced currants , hedgerow fruits, blackberry . Slightly saline , stony finish . Good length and well balanced alcohol . Very young , needs time to integrate. Better in 5-8 years and will last well for a further 10 or so years . — 2 months ago
