Résonance Extra Brut Champagne Pinot Noir 2014

Great focus, operating on a moderate wavelength. Not the most expansive but not a laser down the palate either. Golden apple, cured lemon, pecorino rind, salty brioche dough, crushed chalk and oyster shell. Briny and mineral across the back palate. Beautiful for the price! — 7 years ago

Roses de Jeanne Côte de Val Vilaine Brut Blanc de Noirs Champagne Pinot Noir

This bottle was so different from the the last. Salty, cured ham, parm, wet rocks, yeasty, white strawberry, funky. Edgy acid, laser-like on the palate. Showed a lot of development with air which makes me think this wine just needs some time to become truly enjoyable. Points for expressiveness and character, just not finding the right wavelength to get on with this wine. Perhaps a revisit with a proper decant is in order. — 8 years ago

Crossfire Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

Wow.. One of 6 tried, all stellar. This is single vineyard beckstoffer Missouri hopper vineyard.. Awesome intensity and long finish.. I want more of all of these. Favorite was probably the Wavelength (50/50 Syrah and cab franc) — 10 years ago

Domaine du Pegau

Cuvée Réservé Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2016

Classic Pegau style, a nod to tradition with WC ferm but some pushing from an extraction standpoint. Deep, dark, savory and operating on a lower wavelength. Not an aromatic expression of CNdP, but wholesome and shows its character in its riches on the palate. Muddled red and black fruits, from berry/plum to fig/prune, leather, tar, roasted espresso, garrigue, hot stones and iron, rich in brett but working well the wine. This was a night 2 wine, it needs some obviously time to let its layers unfold. 2016s have a certain edge and lift to them for me, this almost aligned more with the ‘15 vintage given its tenacity and strength — 4 years ago

Domaine Auguste Clape

St. Péray Blanc Marsanne 2016

Great marriage of freshness and mouthfeel, this wine has plenty of zip to give lift without sacrificing its mineral and textural depths. Not as fat as I was expecting to be. Viscous, yes, but on a shorter wavelength than other N. Rhône whites. Nose is stone fruit blossoms, apricot, nuts, lees, radish, leaves and crushed rocks. Palate quince, green pineapple, orange, radish spice and phenolic. Just a slight inclination of oxidation. — 7 years ago
