Full bodied, smooth and bags of fruit. Awesome — 8 years ago
5 o'clock comes early on snow days... elegant, floral and still kicking you in the teeth with tannins. Delicious! — 8 years ago
It's 5 o'clock! As a friend said in Chicago recently, the bug has bit you why having dinner @ Les Nomades, and for past month it hasn't ceased. The nose is VERY expressive. The front mid & back palate are wonderful rich, yet balanced, & powerful, the finish lingers for sometime! Can go much longer — 9 years ago
Wine o'clock watch pairing ...
Mid-2000s Omega Speedmaster Reduced II 3539.50.
This Guido needs a lot more time for my taste. It opens with promising barnyard aromas that subside and give way to oak -- which are fairly dominant in my opinion. Unripe red fruits, a mineral/metallic cherry taste (I know, makes no sense). Medium bodied, medium alcohol, double dry tannins. Finish of sour cherry.
I will buy another bottle to hold for 2-3 years and expect I'll score it 2 points higher meanwhile in Sept 2020, it's a 91+ on my scale.
91+ points — 5 years ago
For a sub $20 wine, this one is a winner. The varietal originates from the Canary Islands and has been grown in Chile for hundreds of years. 12.5 alcohols makes it a perfect before 5 o'clock glass ;) — 8 years ago
(Don't tell anyone we drank this at the 11 o'clock hour) very solid fruit- dark cherry, plum, but also very sensibly cuts to your taste buds (doesn't waste time). Loved the value too. Paired with some ridiculous Eataly pasta dishes (veal sugo and mushroom ragu flavors)and burrata with pesto — 8 years ago
In the passenger seat when the sun is sinking and warm four o'clock light is only catching your face briefly through small spaces between tall buildings. Not thinking about much, not needing to. Feeling the rocky lurch of an old, beloved car carrying you forward. Things are easy and momentary. Apple cider, sweet orange, walnuts, lees, dried leaves, little sparks. — 8 years ago
