Rolling the dice with an 02 Leflaive…. Bingo, we have a winner. Light straw gold color. Fruit and floral nose. Wet stone, citrus, tan spice, pineapple and honeydew. Great acidity. We had a backup ready to go but the premox plague missed this one. Great juice. — 3 years ago
Happy New Year Everyone!!
Cristal for the parents and sparkling apple juice for the twins!
Cristal doesn’t hold a candle to my go to of Bollinger Le Grand Annee, but is always nice on a special occasion! Was very restrained and probably will be better in 5+yrs. — 4 years ago
This is a blend of syrah, cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc.
The wine is red but completely translucid like a Tavel wine. The nose is funky with dome discreet barnyard notes, a typical herbaceous note that I associate with Sauvignon Blanc, some minerally notes like crushed rocks, pomegranate and strawberry too. Very interesting!
The palate shows a good acid drive, pomegranate and strawberry notes all along, some width, a soft and gentle mouthfeel that changes in the rear with some lively tannins that create another layer over a rather long and fruity finish with pomegranate and strawberry. It's fresh and fun, it's super easy going. Textbook glouglou wine. Enjoyed slightly chilled. 12,5% abv. — 5 months ago
Great color in the decanter... medium gold with an enticing perfume. Notes of sweet Meyer lemon, apricot, gravel stone, tan clay, some mint, a little ginger and some sweet marzipan. Has an exotic and slightly musty (desirable) funk. Huge weight with great fruit and solid acidity in the mouth. Decanted for 2 hours before drinking. Awesome juice! If you Google “why should I age white burgundy?”, an image of this 35 year old bottle should be shown... — 4 years ago

Zoom event with Drew Bledsoe and Josh McDaniels. Vertical from ‘07, ‘14, ‘15, ‘16, ‘17, ‘17 estate, and ‘18. All were exceptionally smooth and silky with good depth of fruit. Notes on the ‘18: 90% CS, 5% Malbec, 5% Merlot. Least favorite of the night. Still a good wine but perhaps a bit too young, or just different enough from the others that I liked ones with a bit more age. This wine had a little more density than the others and perhaps a little more earth and graphite coming through that masked the fruit. It still had the classic doubleback elegance of the others but I felt we were not seeing this wine’s true expression. It only had about 1 hour in the glass and perhaps I need to pull another bottle, decant for a few hours and see what it does. — 4 years ago

2020 is one of my favorite versions of Liaison. Mildly masculine, soft like wrinkle free satin sheets. Also pulpy and viscous with a roux-like foundation. It's a textural wine.
Smells like dried cedar dust and cherry and punchy acetone. Full of flavor. A blend of marooned macerated yogurt cup strawberries and cherry prune juice. — 5 months ago
