Duboković

Moj Otok White Blend 2010

Really interesting wine - somewhere between orange wine and dry oloroso. Dark amber in colour and some oxidation, smell is incredible. Taste has some stewed apple and lively acidity, despite its 9 years. Eaten with some lightly smoked Croatian sheep’s cheese. — 6 years ago

Comtesse Bernard de Cherisey

Hameau de Blagny Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2007

Really pretty and in great and fresh shape. Nice salinity, and the gold color is greenish as if from Chablis. Mid palate coats the mouth but in a clean way, and there is the tiniest touch of some tropical lift on the finish. Very much like the wine, purchased today from Viscount in Wappingers Falls en route to an upstate vacation! I can see holding this bottle further to see what else it will reveal. — 6 years ago

Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2017

Day 1 of our Portland/Willamette Valley vacation. Starting with a relatively obscure Winery that has created a beautiful bottle of classic, cool climate, Pinot Noir with intense raspberry aromas, well rounded body, perfectly balanced, juicy red fruit in abundance on the palate that begs for pan seared Wild Salmon. A classic at an amazing price point. — 6 years ago

@AgeyFixey So much good wine here. Even going into a Whole Foods is hard to decide on wine, so many options. The Pinot is spectacular but there’s also amazing Pinot Gris, Rosé, , Gamay Noir and Chardonnay. Highlights for wineries so far include Archery Summit and Domain Serene.

Moët & Chandon

Impérial Brut Champagne Blend

At the Emirates Business Lounge in Dubai. Not quite the lounge services they advertise in their Business Class Service video in Dubai on their website. Overall, still ok. I was looking forward to the world’s only Moet & Chandon Champagne Bar and some 09 vintage Moet & Chandon but, I guess that is really only in the First Class Lounge. I’ll have to settle for this Imperial. Any good lawyers out there want to sue them for deceptive advertising? 🤣 Also, the shoe shine was not included. It was the most expensive shoe shine I’ve had. And, never actually included black polish! Hmmm? 🤔

As for the Imperial, not bad but, not the 09 vintage I had hoped for! Oh well! 🤷‍♂️

The nose reveals, nice light citrus blend, green apple, bruised red apple to cider, pineapple, a little lime candy, tropical melons, some white peach, cream soda, brioche, soft chalkiness, understated minerality, spring & yellow flowers with greens.

The body full and pleasant. Soft understated mousse and delicate on the palate. Light citrus blend, green apple, red apple with a slight lean into cider, pineapple, a little lime candy, tropical melons, some white peach, cream soda, brioche, soft, fine powdery chalkiness, subtle minerality, sea spray, spring & yellow flowers with greens. The acidity not as lively as I would prefer. The finish is rich, elegant but, lacks a certain wow factor.

@Severn Goodwin I do as well. However, the desert dust got the best of them.

Taittinger

Prestige Rosé Brut Pinot Noir Chardonnay Champagne

On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our conductor Andris Nelsons is leading just one wonderful piece, MAHLER (Symphony No. 3), accompanied with the Tanglewood Festival Chorus.

We're revisiting some producer bottles from our late Spring France vacation earlier this year.

Pinot Noir biased on the nose and palate. Chalky limestone notes persist on the nose, followed by red fruits grated into the same mineral. Palate has bright red fruits with mineral dust, medium finish. Not as good as getting to enjoy it in the private tasting room at the Taittinger cellar, but close tonight.

Photos of one of the Comtes cellar areas, Methuselah's of Brut Reserve where some enthusiast has expressed their love of that wine and our bottle of the evening.

Lol! Tonight will be outstanding, if you can make it. Plus Sunday is our last symphony show of the season, Beethoven's 9th is just epic on those grounds.

@Severn Goodwin indeed we will be there tonight and tomorrow. Tonight we will picnic (on the side near where they rent the chairs) before moving into the shed. Tomorrow we will be on the lawn. Look for the foursome with the wine. 🤣

A foursome with wine, likely you'll be the only ones there!!! If you want, email me, address is in my profile, I'll send you my cell if you want to meet up, my wife and I'll be holding down the Lawn both days.

Vouette et Sorbée

Saignée de Sorbée Extra Brut Rosé Champagne

Delicious, ruby-red champagne that paired perfectly with Dena’s birthday dinner in Oslo. Bold and complex with strong stone-fruit flavors enhanced by citrusy acids. Perfection. — 6 years ago

Silver Oak

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Okay!!!!! Now were talking. Clearwater beach vacation, on the patio, watching the sunset, and having a glass of Silver Oak 2014 cabernet sauvignon. The perfect cab!!!! Blackberry and blueberry fruit on the beginning. Then comes the chocolate and spice and everything nice. The oak is HUGE!!!!! The finish is very very dry and there is absolutely no tartness anywhere!!!!!!!! Anyone who rates this less than ten has had some mighty fine wine! — 6 years ago

2011 vintage. Sunny said she can't believe it's already gone. Our return to Shanghai wine with sushi tonight, just back after the Chinese New Year in Vietnam. Wine was terrific- hints of honeysuckle. Incredibly focused, precise and crisp. — 9 years ago
