Douro Valley....I am coming for you on Friday. On day 2 this is the real deal. Day 1 was tight on the palate with good aromatics. On day 2 the palate was expansive and impeccably balanced. Blueberry, raspberry, spice and schiste minerality fan out at a good pace and ate persist through a long finish. 13.5 abv this retains excellent freshness and a mildly racy acidity. #niepoort #douro — 9 years ago
Intriguing experimental white wine. Spain in origin with Portuguese and Spanish winemaking partnership. Mineral, almond, white blossoms and apple skin notes. Fresh on the palate ans sherry like in flavor without the bitterness from the flor of a Fino sherry. Tasted great the second evening matching the profile with a little more depth and freshness. #niepoort — 11 years ago
Tasting notes are an open battlefield where anyone can claim some sort of victory. This one in particular: "It is worth pointing out that at this moment in time the exuberance of the wine dominates and the elegant style is very enticing to drink right now (...)" cf. www.niepoort-vinhos.com. By that I humbly understand "don't drink it now" since the exuberance (20+ degrees of alcohol) makes it a liquid hard to digest and offensive to the palate. I strive to find elegance, but again who am I? Only an increasingly impoverished fan of this house who loves the oxidative 10-Year Old White Port. So, please bury this bottle down in your basement and enjoy it with your grandchildren. See you there! #crustedport #oporto #niepoort — 8 years ago
A rustic and tannic beast that needs about an hour decant. More angular and rustic, much less polished than the other, more expensive Niepoort table wines. #niepoort #dourovalley #portugal — 11 years ago

I love Charme. Subtle, layered finesse. Very expensive, too expensive. #douro #niepoort #portuguesewine — 6 years ago
