Im loving these Italian wines!!!!! 2011 il Grigio Chianti Classico. This bouquet is leather and black licorice. The init palate is raspberry blackberry tour current followed by tobacco oak and black pepper. The mid-palate comes in quick with a tart Burn in the back of the throat. The finish is very dry and tart. This is with an instant decant with a vigorous swirling. I am not usually a chianti fan , but this DOCG is pretty fantastic.

Dark ruby. Obviously still very tight and primary but opens in decanter with very pure cherry fruit, bit of oak and nice funky earthy component adding complexity. On the palate bold and dark toned, young and bit disjointed. Dusty tannins sneak up in the back end in medium+ length. Needs food. I'll bury my remaining bottles for atleast 5 years.

Great Chianti Classico Grand Selezion! Earthy boquet, before licorice and plum. Takes me back to my honeymoon in Tuscany. Absolutely gorgeous mouth feel with dusty tannins and just right amound of acidity. This is ready to drink now. Sangiovese and some ancient grape varietal. In my books, only the best Brunello can get better.

Once it opened up some, this 2011 Chianti was soft, toasty, and fantastico!

Really loved this wine. Big expressive nose that I was happy to sniff over and over. Cherry, raspberry and licorice. Herbal quality reminiscent of sage. Tannins were a bit tight at first but they softened and integrated over about 90 minutes. Impressed!!

Best had when it's the third wine on #seriouswinesaturday. Just make sure the second wine is not sponsored by a neighborhood lumber yard. Cheers.
