Angela Estate
Yamhill-Carlton Pinot Noir
For a 7-year old Oregon Pinot, there are a couple of unusual things here. First, zero sediment. Second, the wine still seems quite tightly-knit and youthful. But it’s quite nice. Nose is spot-on sous-bois and dark cherry, sweet baking spice, and a rooty cola note. Seems youthful in the mouth, with nice concentration and rocking acids. On the leaner but linear side, but with a lengthy finish that sports a slight bitter note at the end. Was great with Chicken Dijon.

Feb 20th, 2021A small, family-owned winery, owned by Antony Beck a native South African wine producer who began Angela Estate in 2006. Antony created the winery as a celebration of his wife, Angela and their five children. Made with estate fruit, aromas of fruit, floral & spice. Juice flavors of raspberry and strawberry with licorice and spicy pepper notes. Fine tannins on lingering finish ending with bits of cacao. Give this a few more in the cellar.

Feb 12th, 2018Great Pinot, not huge like Sonoma Coast Pinot put a little more fruit than great Burgundy. Great Spice, Pinot body, light red fruit, some earth. I think this is a fantastic wine, still true to the varietal style with Oregon twist. Top Notch

May 7th, 2017Pop and pour. Much better than my previous btl. On the nose: soft rose, cranberry, strawberry leaf. On the palate: good acidity, good density, tomato leaf, wild strawberry, cranberry. Attenuated tannin. Actually pretty compelling, if still primary.

Mar 30th, 2021Opened yesterday. Not bad. On the nose: cranberry, baking spice, strawberry. On the palate: good acidity, sweet cranberry and some slight stemmy notes. Good density and soft tannin on the finish. Definitely OR PN, but not particularly exciting.
