I had an ‘09 Aubert Lauren a couple years ago and it was drinking superbly....but now it has fallen off a cliff. The fruit is all but gone, there is a weedy muddled quality with notes of marzipan and petrol. Aubert chards are some of the best CA has to offer but if this perfectly stored bottle from @romo is any indication, they are not made for the long haul.

Buttery, vanilla, lychee, dry, still nice acidity and a bit burnt butter.

Needless to say, we slayed some dragons tonight. Let the birthday week continue!

Hi, my name is Shay, and I'm ALL ABOARD THE AUBERT TRAIN. Holy smokes. This was my first Aubert...rivals Bevan's Ritchie for my favorite chard. Butterscotch, lemon cream, banana bread. Oh my goodness this was phenomenal.

Sweet cream with buttered popcorn & spring flowers on nose. Vibrant & youthful with quince, pear, mineral & spice. Very balanced with a long soft finish.

A little mushy. I don't know if fruit is fading or what but it didn't have any vibrancy at all.

Always love Aubert chards but this was a bit disjointed and biting on the finish. The bottle wasn't compromised but something was off. My worst Lauren experience. The '07 quite possibly being the best domestic chard I've had.

Absolutely stunning. The first of two truly great bottles of wine I’ll open this evening in honor of the passing of a truly great scientist: Professor Charles Harris of the University of California at Berkeley. RIP, my friend.

I'm afraid I'm done here. Recent affairs w old-world whites makes this feel kind of desperate (and boring), even at 15.5%. It's not you, it's me.
