Plum, cherry and --not surprisingly, given the name-- notes of torrefacted coffee bean. Atypical, but crafty: someone has found a way to vinify this grape variety in such a way that the usual markers folks have problems with (rubber, sulphur, band-aid) are hidden behind coffee aromas and flavors. Here's a phrase I thought I'd never utter: I like this Pinotage.

Smoke and coffee covered cherries on the nose. Fruit forward with a juicy acidity. Surprisingly delicious.

Plan to buy more, may be suffering from South Africa memories and giving this too much credit, but amazingly well with an apple wood chargrilled strip steak

Honestly, this is a dang good wine. Raisin on the nose, some oak/cedar, a tiny bit of funk. Surprising acidity--for all the dark flavors, it's actually tart on the tongue. The brilliance is in the palate and aftertaste: it's like you baked some prunes in the oven till the edges just started to burn. Almost an off taste (it is a pinotage after all), but it ends up being delicious, intriguing, and complex. And it lingers like nobody's business. 5 minutes and I'm still tasting it. A great experience for $15!

Deep, dark and chewy. Bit of barnyard and manure (but in a good way). Different for sure. Cherry syrup finish.

Didn't enjoy very much. Seemed very dry, no rich notes.
