Nose has grill charred cherry, over-ripe red currant, dried garden soil, dehydrated mint, wet tobacco and dried rose.

Palate has loads of ripe/dried cherry, rose hip, cherry compote, faint cedar/cocoa notes, very 'floral' on palate in a great way, anise candy with a mildly dry, satin finish.

First bottle of almost a case of old BV GdL from a very trusted local source, no disappointing.

Cork pulled for slow oxidation at 10H, then double decant for service.

A great paring to truffle butter stuffed burgers; love your local farmer, ground beef from Kinderhook Farm (Valatie, NY).

Old vintage aged more than 20 years. Tannin resolved completely, easy to drink. Consistent flowery bouquet over 3 hours drinking but don't feel strong fruity aromas that young California Cabs typically demonstrate. Maybe too old and passed peak? Don't know, maybe need to try a liitle bit younger vintages. Still very enjoyable. Had good time with it.
