Private Reserve Georges de Latour Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
This was a nice pour out of 9L served up by their Winemaker, Trevor Durling. He and his team are a great group of people.
Really excellent evolution. Classic Private Reserve George Latour style. Fine, dark tarry tannins, dark cassis, wet clay, sandalwood, used tobacco, light herbaceous notes, understated lead pencil, some baking spices, dark spice, withering dark & red flowers, excellent round acidity, balance for days, soft structure & tension and an elegant, round, plush, velvety finish that close to two-minutes.

Drank Dec 2016. Very light intensity on the nose with hints of graphite and blackberry and vanilla. Very smooth and rich mouthfeel. Medium plus acid. Medium, smooth tannins that dry the finish. Loads of graphite on the palate with black cherry and creamy coffee. Long finish. Very nice but lacks complexity on the nose or palate to be great, drink asap.

Dec 11th, 2016In a great spot right now. Just enough maturity for me. Fresh, fruity with a bit of licorice.

Feb 2nd, 2016One of the decade's top wines, the 2002 Beaulieu Vyd Georges De Latour Private Reserve Cabernet is stately and expansive. Showing a firm palate, the wine offers a peek into the intricate world of the ultra premium Cabernet. Still away from its maximum moment, this wine should enjoy another decade of development. Yet plenty fine to enjoy today. (August 14, 2013, Rutherford, CA) #wine #cabernetsauvignon #napavalley #rutherford #beaulieuvineyard

Aug 30th, 2013Incorrectly priced at shop. Asked twice if they were sure the price was correct - and got some attitude about the question. Steal. Has to be at peak.

Nov 19th, 2021Excuse the messy plate, but I had to get eating.
Wine has at least 10 more years if properly stored like this one.

2002 vintage has great fruit, and is full bodied and rich. Scored properly, so it is still really good at 17 years. See honey? This is why we spent so much on that wine fridge.
