Bodega Garzon
Reserva Marselan
Maldonado, Uruguay, Uruguay100% Marselan (Crossing of Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache) from Uruguay. Dark ruby/black color with a thin garnet rim. Aromas of jammy black fruit, wet potting soil, tobacco, a bit of menthol and smoky oak. Flavors of ripe blackberry, blueberry and plum fruit, green olives, dark chocolate, black pepper, fresh herbs and baking spices. Medium-plus finish and body with enough noticeable tannin and intensity. A bit out of balance. Decent complexity and a reasonable wine, but something is lacking.

This one took a couple of days to open up. Once it did, some nice dark fruit flavors began to emerge, along with some earth, leather, and spice. My first go with Marselan, and I'll be interested to try one from a different producer/country. Not too bad once it opened up. 100% Marselan. 5/19/23.
