This has become our house red; we buy this by the case it's so good. Blueberry jam, cedar, a hint of vanilla and black pepper -- and a little gamey on the nose tonight. This followed some big wines and still held its own. Little sibling to El Nido - this is very new world in style and taste. Just so easy drinking and delicious.

From Bodegas El Nido, a collaboration between the Gil family and Chris Ringland, Clio is a 70/30 blend of Mourvèdre (Monastrell, as it's known in Spain) and Cabernet Sauvignon. From vineyards in the Jumilla DO in the region of Murcia, located in southeastern Spain. Roughly 85% of Jumilla's production is Monastrell. This is a steakhouse style wine. Over-the-top, rich blackberry and blueberry that falls somewhere between preserves and glaze, singed cedar, dried underbrush, with a vanilla driven perfume that evokes the first scent you get at a speciality cake shop.

Cherry red, very spicy, vegetables, very long on smell. Extremely persistent, sweet, long, mineral, very well structured, silky on mouth. Do truly love this blend of monastrell and cab sauvignon. 34€ in Spain, veeeery good.

Juicy, huge oak, and a finish so long you almost want it to stop. Some earthy spice and chalkiness finds its away into the overload of new world fruit, but this wine is damn well made and a great marriage of opposing flavors.

Although more refined than the Syrah still loads of oak. Much more balanced although softer.

What a surprise, blind tasted this one and discovered a region i was unaware of. Heavily Oaked the subtle hints of Cabernet were masked by what turns out to be Monastrell. This 2013 drank like a much younger wine and knowing this now can see this wine being wonderful 20 years from now

Powerful Blend of Old Vine Monastrell (70%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (30%). Dark purple color and high (16%) alcohol. Aromas of dried plums, cherries and tobacco. Dark fruit flavors with hints of dark chocolate, coffee and baking spices. Juicy and rich. Good structure and complexity. Tannins are well integrated. Long finish.
