Lucky enough to taste 2010 &’11 side by side. Beautiful dark color, blend of 70% Tempranillo, 20% Graciano & 10% Mazuelo, aged in new French oak for 16 months. Concentrated red fruit aromas with complementing oak and spice. On the palate perfectly ripe red fruit flavors, complex with layers fruit & spice, noting tobacco, cacao and savory pepper. Tannins are a bit muted but with an edge, lingering, comes together on the finish with great balance. Decant to drink now, otherwise let this baby sit in the cellar

Muga Monday ends with the
"Joe" Torre Muga. It tastes like the way he managed the NY Yankees, an iron fist in a velvet glove.

Wow, musty moldy cork, but it was tight. Crazy funk on the open. Meaty so far. Giving it time...

A very deep dark purple starting slightly to bend towards ruby. The nose hasn't budged from open... It's well grilled beef, with A1 sauce. Off putting but I'm curious. Other earthy musty notes. Way in the back is muddled blackberry. Gonna let it go for longer. So far the palate roughly matches the nose...

UPDATE: Came back to this the next day, corked it overnight, then reopened. It did improve, but only marginally.

Final score... 90 points

Black-purple in color. Anise, leather and dried sage on the nose. Dark fruit, cigar box, and spice. Medium body with medium tannins and silky smooth finish. A treat with a foie gras app. Love!
