Phenomenal, classic Nerello Mascalese. Singing at 11 years with lots of fruit still but nice leather, tobacco, moss notes. Feeling fresh and young still, it has a long way to go.

Like a bagful of dried cherries (that’s a good thing). Medium ruby in color but still light, with a wonderful balance of tartness and gravelly creaminess. A touch of allspice at the end reminded me of some Pinots from Sta. Rita Hills.

Nerello Mascalese is a superior quality grape. This Calabretta offers an amazing value and longevity. Dark red - deep blood red in color with loads of ripe black berry and sweet black cherry flavors. Complex hints of spice, licorice, tobacco with a volcanic finish adds to the overall enjoyment of this excellent wine.
