Riserva Rocce Rosse Sassella Valtellina Superiore Nebbiolo

Nose is cherry and library dust.

Palate is cherry. Penetrating. So bright. Good elegant spice.

Arpepe is like Valtellina cheat code. Nose is ripe but reigned in and just gorgeous. Stunning ripe mid to late season cherry. Spice, smoke. So elegant and subtle. I know this will unfurl as the night goes on. Insanely pure and complex tar notes. Just so vivid. Beautiful. Palate is stupid wonderful. Sweet, succulent and supple. So fresh. So much energy and preposterous length. My goodness the delicacy here is Bartolo level. Elite roses now on the nose. Overpowering. Sickness. Amazing mouthfeel. Haunting, intense and delicate. Wow. The balance is incredible as is the finesse. Wow. I’m speechless. Maybe best arpepe I’ve ever had. The tannins are just so fine.

Perhaps the prettiest of the riservas we’ve tried. Singing alpine cherries. Ethereal. Magnificent.

This Sassella is light on its feet, doesn’t need Italian food to make magic.
