1997: Surprisingly fresh, supple and medium bodied. On the early side, yet engaging with a round mouth feel. Hold for now.

Elegant, restrained rose petals and cherry far more so than expected of a typical Barolo. Excellent. Was double decanted two hours prior to serving

Beautiful nose of cherry, earth, spice, balsamic & sandalwood, lighter in weight with a more elegant & floral style.

Exceptional. Same as the 64, just much less evolved. The style is there. What a joy to have them together. Both magnums.

1997 vintage. From Jay. 1997 Bartolo Mascarello - Brief Note from Galloni Historical Retrospective Held in London April 26, 2016. Hot on the nose. Faded Cola colour with slight bricking on the edge. Somewhat funky on the pallet. Medicinal on the finish. Do not care for this. 83/100. This bottle performed very poorly and was well past it's sell by date.

This was a great Barolo from a legendary producer! Tart cherry fruit, rose petal, licorice, dried herbs, porcini mushroom. Showing power, finesse, Burgundy elegance, great balance of fruit, purity with round tannins and good weight, concentration, velvety and silky texture. No rush, Still drinking young!
