Very rustic, with heavy spice and chewy tannins, some barnyard quality, yet not unctuous or jammy. Muted fruit with dark raspberry notes. Needed at least 2 hours to open up, and better on day 2. Best with truffle-accented Piemonte foods or hard cheese. Not a light violet-flower Barolo; with aging will be more interesting.
