
2004 vintage. Very structure-driven wine. Black fruits of stewed plum, black fig, black cherry, currant, cedar, pencil lead, dried herbs, freshly-turned earth, cloves, dried purple flowers. Really fine-grained tannins that are very drying...surprising for a wine this age. Never would have pegged this for Sangiovese, seemed more like a high-quality Bordeaux variety.
