Château Beauséjour
St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend
St. Émilion, Libournais, Bordeaux, France
Interesting nose of barrel toast, Indian spices, saddle leather and a touch of mint. On the palette, the wine is somewhat compressed and closed. It stretches out over time to reveal solid dark fruits and olives. This is holding up very well, but not expressing itself to its fullest extent. Predominant blend is merlot and cab franc. Re-corked and will take another look tomorrow.
Day 2 revealed a marginal improvement - softening the tannins and relaxing the acid. On reflection, my 2 hrs of aeration was insufficient. This really needs needs 5 - 6 hrs prior to consumption.

Good drink, not as velvet as anticipated. 35-45 min. to open in a decanter.
