Château Canon
Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend
Tasted blind. Dark reddish tawny color. Refined nose with notes of black fruit, provencal herbs, earth and a little wood. In the mouth it's more linear than opulent. Several struggled with guessing the varietal and origin, especially me as I guessed old Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Even with more air it wasn't easy to identify this as Bordeaux, perhaps because of the vintage. Yet this was a decent wine and by no means a disappointment.

Feb 3rd, 2019Dinner with Charles Fournier, export director of Louis Roederer came over for dinner and it was fun to serve some of his family's wines from past vintages. This was plummy, natural and mature- totally different from today's right bank monsters. Lovely with sirloin and potatoes!
