Sep 3rd, 2017Didn't bring a red as we weren't planning on drink more than a btl, and that Leroy Monty did the trick, but our palates got hungry for some red, so looked at the half btl list(needed to drive back to SF) and chose this, great vintage and a solid producer. This is in a beautiful place right now, plenty of room for improvement, but complemented dinner just right.

Oct 20th, 2014The "forgotten fifth growth." Real "steak wine." Minerally, balanced tannin and acid. Solid

Mar 4th, 2013Keeping getting distracted every few months and open an 05 Bordeaux. Not ready, this wine was undrinkable the first night. There was so much oak and wood tannin. 18 hours later the texture relaxed and it opened a bit. 28 hours later the oak integrated somewhat...not a pleasant experience, this wine needs years...if ever

Dec 15th, 2017Plenty of time in the bottle but still somewhat of a rowdy teenager. Deep red, bordering on purple in colour, relatively savoury in flavour with dark fruits, minerals and a liquorice undertone. There’s still quite a bit of tannin and acidity but neither are overpowering. The issue is that all of the above features have not yet fully blended together and although the finish is restrained it is also a bit rough around the edges. I think this will smooth out over time and there are still many years in this.
