Château Carbonnieux
Pessac-Léognan White Bordeaux Blend
2006 vintage, nice for its age. On the slow decline but still a few years left.

May 3rd, 2015Oaked white wines can be awesome. Especially with some age. Translucent boil onions, apricot, and pineapple. Yep, onions.

Jul 12th, 20132006, Chateau Carbonnieux, Pessac-Leognan, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc Blend. Held on to this one do a while and it was worth it. It has aged incredibly well. The first thing I noticed was the vibrant, gold color. Gorgeous! It tastes just as good as it looks. Some oak but the fruit is the star: citrus, tart green apple, wet rock and great acidity. Well worth the wait. Only one bottle, makes me sad.

Apr 21st, 2016I haven't had many examples of Bordeaux Blanc with bottle age but this bottle is the inspiration to start exploring them. What started out fairly pale in its youth has matured into a wine of deep, glowing amber-golden nectar. Honey, papaya, hints of nectarine and apricot carry softer notes of beeswax and hay. Lithe, seemingly weightless, this wine still has a textural, resinous mouthfeel with all parts in balance and perfectly tuned. Fantastic white Bordeaux.

Jul 3rd, 2015A strong balance of honey sweet/nuttiness and acidity. Very pleasant wine. At peak horizon. I have 2 more.
