TASTE: good! Dried raspberry, leaves, tea … earth … savoury herbs like thyme and oregano … forest floor (pine, etc)… pomegranate (dried pomegranate, if there is such a thing). I tried a much younger version of this (2012) and thought it was past its prime - but this has aged very nicely indeed! A hair anonymous, yet delicious - still has some fruit. Really wish I’d bought more now. 93.

Deep ruby coloration. On the nose, prunes, plum, florals, vanilla. On the palate, plum, pipe smoke finish. Medium body. Tannins are still strong.

Possibly got a bad bottle. Major alcohol nose at first decant but settled after an hour or so. Fruit was unnoticed and lacked body. Out of balance. I will try again from another vendor soon.

Tasted a handful of vintages before learning the price. Couldn't believe the 2005 was a $26 bottle of wine. Thought it drank like something 3x the price at least. The younger stuff was good but probably needs some more time in the bottle.

Really enjoyed this wine with Andy when we were at Chez Simo Bistro. Full wine lasted the entire meal due to its complexity and that we didn't have another bottle with us!
