A very balanced wine in his late secondary evolution. Lots of fruit left, civilized tannins, medium bodied and much better than most 88s we had. Good now but really no rush. Excellent bottle !!

The '88 Château Haut-Bailley Red Bordeaux struck me immediately with gamey, mushroomy and earthy aromas that melted into a creamy palate of chocolate with espresso undertones. The fruit was no longer forefront, but the overall taste profile was still satisfying. However, I would say it is at the end of the prime drinking window.
