The body is leaner than you'd like. However, it has all the characteristics of Haut Brion. Creamed; blackberries, black raspberries. Black plum, tobacco, leather, burnt ambers, wet black earth, dried coffee grounds, stoney gravel, decayed flowers and a touch of mushroom. It starts well but doesn't have the polished finish one expects from Haut Brion. From the 1993-95 trifecta tasting, the only disappointment. But, it's still Haut Brion! Out of 375ml.

Proof that the great estates make superb wines even in the more difficult vintages. Full & ripe in the Pessac style so typical of HB. Beautifully fresh & balanced & all of this in a perfectly balanced medium-bodied 12.5% alc. Amazing wine.

Classic and complex. Though 93 was not a great year for Bordeaux, this maker still made a great wine.

This was really drinking well with notes of black currant, plummy fruit with leather, earth, graphite, mocha, black olive, mineral & sweet tobacco. Always a treat to taste a Haut Brion even though this is considered an off vintage. Med bodied that seems close to maturity & should keep another 10- 15 yrs.

A little clunky if I have to be that asshole, but an amazing experience nonetheless.

Drank on 20 March 2017 - needs around an hour half after opening to really enjoy the openness of the aroma and taste. Totally enjoyable as it leaves a long lasting after taste.
