Very dark and inky. On the nose, prune, blackberry, currants, dark chocolate, tobacco and pepper. Detect reductive scents, like cabbage. On the palate, medium to full body, prune and overwhelming tobacco. And reductive flavors: matchsticks and cabbage in the finish. Tannins are still strong after 10 years. Reductive wines are not my favorite. Revisited this wine on day 2 giving it several more hours of oxygen. The additional time and oxygen dulled the reductive flavors considerably. The nose was more plum and floral. The palate was more mineral, plum and tobacco. Tannins were still a bit overpowering but drinking considerably better on day 2.

Aug 1st, 2020I love Pomerol. 2010 in 2016 can still go quite a few years although drinking perfectly now. Dark fruit structure. Tannins integrating well. Heading out to buy another for the cellar. What a great bottle.
