Château L'Enclos
Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend
Popped and poured; consumed over two days. Best on Day 2. No formal notes. The 2016 Chateau L'Enclos is a delightful, charming Pomerol that hits all the things that you want from appellation in the most classic ways. It's unmistakably Bordeaux. It's loaded with dark plums, violets, soft baking spices, iron streaked clay earth, coffee grounds, tobacco, and just the slightest kiss of Brett giving the impression of a horse blanket. The tannins are medium and the acid is medium+ with a long, balanced fruit/earthy/mineral finish. I don't know that I see this improving with age however I feel like this will drink well past 2036. FWIW, I could drink a lot of this and often.

Jun 16th, 2023Dark purple robe, nose of blackcurrant, tobacco, tar and licorice. Very polished in the mouth with no excess. Very modern style but again no excess. Good stuff. Would be better off with less wood but its not bad.
