One can not help but to get excited when you see an iconic producer and an almost 50 year old bottle. The nose is Bordeaux like with elements of old wooden furniture, , leather, and an autumn day in the woods. On the palate those elements meet up with plums and dark berries . A wine held together by structure. Would have loved to have tried 10-15 years ago.

Mar 6th, 2024This is what cab is all about. I feel grateful when I have the opportunity to try California Cabernets from the 70s. This from a 3L - pulled from the Montelena library. Gorgeous fruit with healthy development but given the bottle and impeccable cellaring I think this is only middle aged at this point.
