Le Prestige Coteaux du Languedoc Saint-Drézéry Grenache Syrah

While it’s not quite their La Closerie du Pic, Le Prestige from Château Puech-Haut has been one of the best bang for your buck bottles going back to at least 2009. The 2013 is a blend of 55% Grenache, 45% Syrah and, again, a stunning value. Rich blackberry and lush raspberry, licorice, peppered meat, and smoked mesquite, with a backdrop of Herbes de Provence.

Viande fumée bonne longueur

For my money, I've never found a better bottle under $20. Full-bodied, with rich, dark fruit and layers of incense, rock, fig, and lavender. Lush and hedonistic.

Raw in comparison to the La Closerie, but displays a purity of fruit that is enjoyable. Incense, Herbes de Provence, grilled meat and black fruit.

violets & blackberry patch, licorice and a savory to almost root beer finish

Very ripe fruit but has enough acid

Smooth and good end of the evening wine after a meal.

Big, full bodied red from Languedoc. Grenache/Syrah old vine blend. This wine has it all, for the price. Black fruit, red fruit, complexity and balance.

Good southern French Grenache blend. Smooth and good dark fruit.
