Chateau Ste. Michelle
Harvest Select Columbia Valley Sweet Riesling
Founded in 1934, Chateau Ste. Michelle is the oldest winery in Washington. Classic sweet Riesling, aromas of ripe stone fruits and sweet spice. On the palate ripe peach and apricot flavors, good balance with acidity. Medium+ finish ending with fruit character. Nice value. ‘16 a bit better. Tasting Sample.

Jul 15th, 2020A surprisingly inexpensive well-balanced bottle! To me this is dry enough to pair with the right meal (a spicy Mexican dish?) as well as sweet enough to be satisfying as a post-prandial sipper. At $10 I think this wine is a great value.

Jun 5th, 2020Sweet fruit and honey on the nose. Peach and honey at the start and slight spice finish, mead-like qualities. Well balanced, good price. Nice everyday wine.

Sep 3rd, 2019With a light, lemony hue this sweet Riesling dessert wine, is best served very cold. A nose of crisp green apple, peach, and notes of flower and ... is that petroleum? Buttery on the palate, apple, pineapple and honey. It is reminiscent of Chaucer mead, which could lead to a memorable Renaissance Festival - if only the 10.5% alcohol content were higher. If you want a dessert wine to pair with spice on a hot summer day this may be the wine for you. I want a my Riesling to taste more like wine and less like sugar. If in the market for a dessert wine I would opt for something else, or mead, if one wants honey-wine and a medieval knight.
