Château Thivin
Cuvée Zaccharie Côte de Brouilly Gamay
Smells very very ripe. Sur maturite big time. Dark black cherry fruit, dark blueberry. Some earth and funk. Very ripe. More soon. 9.3 to 9.2 this leaned into 15 too much and was muddied and roasted.

Oct 12th, 2023This is very well made and has freshness, energy and dynamism but the fruit is roasted and pruny. Very good winemaking here but hard to avoid this type of fruit profile in 15 Beaujolais. And as it ages it gets more exaggerated.

Aug 5th, 2017A brooding nose of dark fruits and earth with no signs of alcohol. Full body but the acidity keeps things in line. A mixture of red and blue fruit, and iron all surrounded by a core of juiciness. An easy cellar candidate .

1 person found it helpfulMar 23rd, 2021Really good for a ’15 Bojo. Massively extracted, but tannins completely under control. Nose has smoky crushed granite and dark, oozy, tangy berries. The barest hint of Brett adds complexity. Tangy, athletic, and mouthfilling. Can’t help but smack your lips. Great concentration. So unique. Still youthful. Years to go.

1 person found it helpfulFeb 10th, 2020This bears little resemblance to a Gamay from Beaujolais, starting with the startlingly saturated violet color. The nose is feral, with inky dark berries, laced with venison jerky, poured on to a slab of just-cracked granite. In the mouth, massive dry extract and intensity, but simultaneously vibrant. It’s got soft tannin and acids to spare, so it will age, but really special now. This is actually a fall-weight Bojo. The only thing about this wine that runs according to type is the blocky ‘15 tactile feel, which is not my fave.

1 person found it helpfulJul 9th, 2018Utterly enticing with juicy fruits, dark cherries, blackberries, intense floral presence of violets, incense, allspice, and chalk dust. A light to mid bodied red with ripe fruit flavors of berries on entry, nice saline mineral core on the refreshing midpalate with torrefact notes leading to a long lasting a juicy finish filled with warm spices. Although the fruit seems to dominate there is enough acidity to provide balance, just incredibly easy to drink.
