Clarendon Hills
Astralis Syrah
This tasting goes out to @Bob McDonald - show that flag some respect...
Visually, bricking has begun, but the nose is still lively and youthful. Black cherries and raspberries transition to notes of tobacco, leather and thyme. Palate is consistent, but that signature sweetness is still there, along with a hint of sandalwood. This still has broad shoulders, but it’s much more balanced and fine-tuned with bottle age.
Aussie first-growth in my book.

@David A Lentine @Ron R "I get by with a little help from my friends!" I brought both of you to the keys with us! The weather is crap but the wines are awesome!!
Opened this beauty and what a fierce beast it was. Took us a while to tame it. We enjoyed 1/2 the bottle last night and could not get through it. Revisited the next day & It just now opened up. This one is a Rockstar. Incredible transformation with a day of air. It began closed and very focused. Oil spill dark with a singular note of dark fruit on nose. 12 hours later is a completely different story!!! It's now a beautiful orchestra with Floral notes, Leather, earth and a finish that goes on forever. Incredibly deep, lush and oh so smooth at this time. I would have given this a 9.3 when it was initially tasted but will now score 9.9.

Settled, yet youthful. Red purple. Rich fruit and a strong backbone. Plenty of life ahead. I can’t add much to the excellent Vinous note.

Jun 6th, 2021Eculyptus, crushed rocks, forest floor, silky smooth, bovril, talcum powder, little bitter after taste. Not very complex. Smooth but not very fruity. After some breathing some chocolaty flavour. Sweet cola
