May 8th, 2022Deep Ruby with aromas of red fruits and spice notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry and ripe cherry fruit with notes of vanilla and cacao. Medium finish, firm rustic tannins ending with fruit and spice character.

Jan 24th, 2020While the nose is reminiscent of Sangiovese with red cherry, blackberry, licorice, black tea leaf, leather, and touch of smoke, it was unmistakably Sagrantino on the palate. The stern and massive tannins, together with the streaking acidity that somehow give the body a lighter feel, extrude sheer power.
Not for everyone, but I do like it a lot.

Very dry, lean body with good long lingering finish. Pairs well with tomato based recipes. The tannins have smoothed out a lot in the past 2 years. Would buy again as it’s a unique grape.

Mar 10th, 2023Dark and dense with a mouthful of ripe woodland berries and a touch of oak and spice. Firm tannins, but not over-powering. This one did have enough structure to last a couple more years in the bottle, but it tasted good today nonetheless. A nice red for a snow-day beef stew! 100% Sagrantino. 2/3/22.
