Last bottle of this delicious and relatively inexpensive Priorat. It’s 50% Carignane and 50% Garnacha, but the Carignane really comes through on the nose, which shows deep, dark cherry and a little iodiney, stoney minerality. Big whack of flavor and body upfront. Licorice note making an entrance as the wine airs out. Tannins still and decent acids. Finish is a little short but at this value price point I’m in no position to complain. Solid wine for rustic cool weather dinners.

I love this. Great value. 50/50 Garnacha/Carinena. Nose has ripe cherry, raspberry, spice, and crushed slate. Pretty big in the mouth, as one would expect from Priorat, but not too big. Yes, there’s a little peppery heat there, but the acids are good and the tannins soft. After the pepper dies down there are lingering notes of cherry extract and licorice.
