I had the ‘14 awhile ago, and it was astringent and harsh. This isn’t a soft, velvety style, but it’s a significant step up. Dark cherry and licorice lead on the nose, with some crushed stone. Reasonable fruit in the mouth, competing with some forceful tannin, but it avoids over-astringency. Not bad for a cheapy.

High QPR traditionally-produced Barolo, a blend of many crus in and around Castiglione Falletto. Typical Nebbiolo notes, nothing earth-shattering but no “off” components either... just a solid Barolo at a great price. Costco.

While this costs $10 more than the 14’, it’s still only $25, and from much better vintage.
Bright red fruits with rose petals, worn leather, and black tea leaf. Medium body. Fresh acidity and firm resolving tannins. Love the fruit purity here.
A legit Barolo.

A solid entry level barolo to drink in the short term. Decanted for 45 minutes. A lighter traditional style barolo with slightly less tannins. Good value at $19.
