Craggy Range
Gimblett Gravels Vineyard Syrah
This is a special bottle for me. I traveled to New Zealand and was fortunate enough to have a tour and tasting at Craggy Range. It brings back great memories opening this bottle. It's delicious, complex, peppery, and reminds me of great times in NZ. I highly recommend their wines and visiting the winery.

Sep 6th, 2015Good wine, but neutral in its expression, lacking true varietal character and a sense of place. I usually like this producer, but this was just bland.

Oct 12th, 2014A quality Syrah from the other side of the world.

Dec 23rd, 2015Last had nearly a year ago. Similar tasting notes. Blackberry fruit and spice notes, with a lot of pepper. Medium-bodied, silky tannins. The peppery finish is arguably a bit strong, but this is still slick, sophisticated and well done.

Feb 10th, 2017This is impressive. Blackberry, a boatload of pepper and a hint of crushed stone. Inky color, strong legs, medium body. A long peppery finish and supple tannins make you want more. Could use some more heft and you won't mistake this for Old World. But overall is smooth, well concentrated and nicely balanced.
