Nose is subtle compared to previous bottles. But then this is quite delicious, showing a really mature acidity and tertiary intensity.

Jun 4th, 2022Interesting discussion over this wine last night. Four of us smelled a skunk / weed smell that persisted throughout the night. There was minerality and quite a bit. Also, the palate didn’t really match the nose. To me, awkward. A few others really enjoyed it.

Aug 7th, 2019Damn, that was delicious. Either talk to your Rosenthal rep, or ask your local wine shop to find this from Rosenthal, there is definitely some on the east coast. Smokin good. Probably some bottle variation but this cork was pristine and the wine was in great shape.

Feb 16th, 2019Marigold and pressed yellow flowers on the nose plus golden delicious apple, and flinty minerals. A touch of green, skunky aroma. Palate is buttery, deftly flirting with oxidation but still youthful. Great texture and density- salty minerals play off each other in the mouth. Great last entry of the trio of Defaix 1er crus from 2005. Still slightly behind the Vaillons in terms of pure pleasure.
