Initial thoughts were that this is just another high alcohol (14.5%) overly extracted Aussie red, and while it does posses some of those characteristics, over a couple of days it opened up nicely, to show a hint of the rustic French roots which these varieties derive from. Nice fresh acidity, subtle tannins and a dusty / spicy wild berry flavours all combine nicely. Good ageing potential no doubt.
