Delas Frères
François de Tournon Saint-Joseph Syrah
Just-ripe black fruit with an appealing tartness; mineral-forward, a little earthy and Bretty; licorice, coffee, and smoke. Medium-bodied, nimble, and well-balanced in its acid and tannin structure. Becomes more generous with air but retains a compact frame.

Dec 7th, 2017Really starting to enjoy the 2012s. This one is right in the wheelhouse. Does not lack power or depth but it is certainly not a dark or fruity wine. Lots of pepper, spice and bright red fruits. Played more like crozes rather than saint Jospeh. Great value

I underestimated this when I tasted a barrel sample. Well made, classic St Joseph. Just a little bit funky on the nose. Well balanced, fresh, good heft of tannin. Pleasure for the mind as well as the body.
